This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking food business supplying premium fresh produce to leading UK retailers. You’ll play a key role in driving technical standards, managing supplier performance, and ensuring food safety, legality, and quality are upheld across the supply base. Working closely with suppliers, customers, and cross-functional teams, this is a chance to make a real impact in a fast-paced, growing environment.
You will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Supporting senior leadership in all areas of food safety, quality, legality, and integrity.
- Maintaining strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring adherence to customer requirements, ethical sourcing, and sustainability policies.
- Coordinating supplier visits, audits, and improvement plans while driving innovation and best practice.
- Managing customer technical communication, complaints, KPIs, and product rejections.
- Collating and reporting technical performance data, ensuring visibility across quality, complaints, waste, and shelf life.
- Supporting supplier development and continuous improvement initiatives across technical and commercial teams.
- Leading internal and external benchmarking sessions to assess quality standards and drive consistency.
- Supporting the management of specifications, packaging, and product trials for new and existing lines.
- Providing clear technical updates and analysis to both suppliers and customers.
- Contributing to the development of SOPs and quality systems to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
What’s Required?
- Proven experience in a Technical Management role within the fresh produce or short shelf-life food sector.
- Strong working knowledge of food safety legislation, auditing (including BRCGS and retailer standards), and supplier assurance.
- Experience managing customer-facing relationships with major UK retailers.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.
- Competency in Microsoft Office and experience with retailer specification portals.
- Previous auditing experience—Lead Auditor qualification preferred.
- A proactive, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a collaborative and fast-moving environment.
What’s in it for you?
£55,000.00 - £70,000.00 per annum
