You will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Managing and developing the Quality Assurance and Supplier Assurance teams to ensure best practice is consistently achieved
- Overseeing the site Quality Management System (FSQMS), ensuring compliance with legislation, BRC standards, customer codes of practice, and group technical guidelines
- Ensuring site technical and quality standards are maintained through effective QA team leadership
- Working with Operations and Engineering to manage and resolve non-conformances, including micro, chemical, pest control, and factory standards
- Maintaining and reviewing FSQMS documentation (including HACCP), ensuring factory SOPs and product specifications reflect all relevant critical systems
- Supporting the delivery of HACCP, driving food safety, product quality, and legality at all times
- Leading and participating in food safety, BRC, and customer audits, deputising for the Technical Controller when required
- Managing relationships with external laboratories, ensuring service delivery within budget
- Collaborating with Hygiene teams to improve cleaning processes and resolve issues
- Driving food safety and quality improvement initiatives, both onsite and through supplier performance management
- Working with Operations to reduce customer complaints in line with targets
- Driving collaboration between technical teams and wider business stakeholders
- Supporting the Technical Controller in developing site systems to exceed industry standards and embed continuous improvement
What’s required?
- Proven experience in chilled food manufacturing within the UK retail environment
- Strong background in managing technical and quality systems
- HACCP trained to Level 3 or above
- Computer literate with strong Microsoft Office skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong leadership, organisation, and problem-solving skills
