Are you an experienced Technical Manager ready to take your next step in a hands-on leadership role?
We're hiring a Technical Manager to join a fast-paced food manufacturing site, responsible for chilled and high-risk products. This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of the safety, quality, and legality of all products, while leading a small but dedicated technical team and managing third-party and customer relationships.
You'll be the technical lead on site—driving quality standards, leading audits, supporting continuous improvement, and ensuring the business remains compliant with all major certifications including SALSA, EHO and NSF. This is a senior-level position requiring strong people leadership, a sound understanding of food safety, and a proactive, problem-solving approach.

You will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Ensuring the safety, quality, and legality of all products manufactured on site
- Managing and maintaining the Quality Management System, including HACCP
- Leading internal and external audits, including SALSA, NSF, EHO, and customer audits
- Identifying and delivering against technical improvement plans
- Promoting a positive food safety culture across the business
- Acting as the primary technical contact for customers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies
- Leading and developing a Quality Assurance team (currently 1 Technical Co-ordinator, 1 QA Assistant, 1 Junior QA Assistant)
- Providing technical support to internal departments including Production, NPD, and Sales
- Monitoring and reporting against technical KPIs to senior management and the board
- Working closely with the Hygiene Manager to maintain microbiological standards and resolve any out-of-spec results
- Day-to-day problem solving and technical issue resolution
What’s required?
- Higher education qualification, ideally in Food Science or a related discipline
- Level 3 or 4 Food Safety and HACCP qualifications
- Internal auditing experience (desirable)
- At least 4 years in a food safety or technical role within the food manufacturing industry, ideally in high-care/high-risk environments
- At least 3 years’ experience managing people
- Strong working knowledge of:
- Microbiology and food safety standards
- Quality Management Systems
- HACCP and food safety legislation
- BRCGS and SALSA standards
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- A proactive, collaborative mindset with the ability to build strong internal relationships
