Are you an experienced technical leader ready to take ownership of a fast-paced site and drive technical excellence?

This is a key opportunity to lead a high-performing team, manage retailer relationships, and elevate standards across a growing operation. You will enjoy real autonomy, strong group backing, and the chance to influence technical strategy while shaping the site’s future direction.

You will be responsible for, but not limited to:

• Leading and continually improving the site Quality Management System to ensure full compliance and operational effectiveness.
• Maintaining BRC certification and managing all external audits, visits, and regulatory interactions.
• Acting as a senior member of the site leadership team, providing visible technical presence and cross-functional collaboration.
• Leading the HACCP framework, ensuring food safety plans, CCP controls, and prerequisite programmes are robust and continuously reviewed.
• Overseeing TACCP/VACCP processes and ensuring they are implemented and maintained effectively.
• Investigating deviations, non-conformances, and quality incidents, implementing corrective actions to restore control and prevent recurrence.
• Monitoring departmental KPIs, driving continuous improvement and ensuring performance targets are achieved.
• Embedding a strong quality culture across the site through clear communication, coaching, and consistent standards.
• Providing leadership, development, and support to Technical and Production teams.
• Managing technical incidents and crises, ensuring swift, controlled resolution.
• Staying ahead of legislative and industry changes, ensuring compliance and readiness.
• Contributing to the ongoing development of the site’s technical strategy.
• Managing technical budgets and ensuring cost-effective operation of the technical function.
• Implementing retailer manufacturing standards and maintaining high audit performance.
• Overseeing supplier approval, compliance, and ongoing performance management.
• Managing specifications, documentation, and validation processes to support product quality and development.

What’s required?

• Degree-level qualification in Food Science, Food Technology, or related field.
• Proven experience in technical/quality management within high-risk FMCG manufacturing.
• Minimum of four years in a Technical Manager role.
• Strong leadership credentials with experience managing and developing multi-disciplinary teams.
• Solid experience working directly with UK retailers.
• Excellent knowledge of BRC, HACCP, TACCP, VACCP and retailer codes of practice.
• Experience leading BRC and third-party audits.
• Strong supplier management capability.
• Highly effective communicator with strong influencing and relationship-building skills.
• Strong project management ability and a continuous improvement mindset.
• HACCP Level 3 understanding.
