You will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Support the Process Development Manager in organising pre- and post-trial meetings, coordinating factory trials, allocating codes, and preparing relevant documentation. Attend all trials to record accurate data and manage held stock, ensuring only approved products are released for production.
- Participate in product handover meetings and critically evaluate development recipes. Identify potential processing challenges and raise concerns with the relevant Development Chef and line manager. Ensure issues are clearly documented to support accurate recipe costing.
- Assist in managing the new raw material (NRM) and supplier process in line with agreed principles. Collaborate with supply chain and culinary teams to provide feedback on received materials, supporting the prioritisation and management of supplier responses.
- Review development recipes to identify new packaging needs. Where new packaging is required, verify it has been sourced through the correct process and that all costing and specifications are documented with the relevant planning or technical teams.
- Create and maintain essential factory documentation, including line information sheets, line specifications, and quality attribute records to support smooth production operations.
- Arrange for shelf-life and nutritional testing samples to be sent to external laboratories. Analyse results critically and implement necessary actions based on findings.
- Support the validation of new and existing processes, including data logging of heat treatments and conducting product testing against microbiological modelling.
- Develop an understanding of the programming requirements for all manufacturing machinery, progressing towards the ability to set up and manage new machine programmes independently.
- Attend and actively contribute to meetings across operations, development, trials, and planning. Communicate key updates and outcomes to relevant team members.
- Organise and document organoleptic panels from trial products to support shelf-life evaluation and product quality assessment.
What's required?
- Ideally 2–3 years of relevant experience in a similar technical or production environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Teams.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to tasks.
- Demonstrates good self-management, adaptability, motivation, and the ability to plan and prioritise effectively.
- Maintains a strong focus on quality and continuous improvement.
