Are you an experienced and creative product developer with a passion for sweet bakery innovation?
This is a hands-on opportunity to work on exciting customer-facing projects, from concept to launch, as part of a fast-paced team driving the next generation of bakery products. You’ll work with cutting-edge technology in a newly automated environment, helping shape new products that inspire and delight.
You will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Managing NPD and EPD projects from concept through to successful launch, ensuring all developments meet customer briefs, cost, and quality targets.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including commercial, technical, manufacturing, and operations, to deliver commercially viable and operationally sound products.
- Running and supporting factory trials, pre-productions, and first production runs.
- Preparing samples, QAS documentation, shelf-life testing, and travel trials.
- Supporting customer presentations and visits alongside Account and Technical Managers.
- Keeping all databases and costings accurate and up to date.
- Staying ahead of trends in ingredients, packaging, and process innovation to support product improvement and category growth.
- Maintaining excellent standards of hygiene, health, and safety within the development kitchen.
What’s required?
- Degree or HND in Food Science, Bakery Science, or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in bakery or similar product development, ideally with major retail exposure.
- Excellent project management, organisation, and communication skills.
- Strong commercial awareness with a creative approach to solving challenges.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and specification systems (e.g. SAP).
- A genuine passion for bakery and product innovation.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
