Are you a hands-on R&D professional looking to build your career in product development within a fast-paced food environment?

This role offers an excellent opportunity to support the development and optimisation of new and existing products, working closely with R&D and site teams. You’ll be involved in trials, testing, and data analysis, playing a key role in taking products from early development through to production scale.

You will be responsible for, but not limited to:

• Conducting laboratory and production trials in line with agreed procedures and research protocols.
• Preparing samples and prototypes for internal review, testing, and customer evaluation.
• Accurately recording observations, measurements, and test results in a structured and organised manner.
• Analysing experimental data and summarising findings for the wider R&D team.
• Supporting the development, improvement, and optimisation of new and existing products.
• Participating in production-scale trials and supporting first runs where required.
• Assisting with the evaluation of product performance, shelf life, stability, and quality.
• Communicating the status of NPD and EPD projects clearly and effectively.
• Attending internal and external taste panels when required.
• Evaluating new and existing raw materials to support development activity.
• Working closely with site teams to ensure smooth handover and alignment.
• Ensuring compliance with food safety, quality, and customer brand standards at all times.
• Managing workload effectively, following critical paths and internal processes to meet deadlines.

What’s required?

• Hands-on experience within a bakery, food manufacturing, or R&D environment.
• Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Experience using analytical or testing equipment is desirable.
• High attention to detail with a drive to deliver work to a high standard.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills at all levels.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team.
• A strong willingness to learn and develop technical knowledge on the job.
• Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Enthusiasm for food, ingredients, processes, and continuous improvement.
