This is a hands-on position where you’ll lead quality standards on site, support continuous improvement, and collaborate closely across departments to maintain excellence in food safety and compliance.

You will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Set clear, measurable objectives and development plans for direct reports within the QA team.
  • Support the objective-setting and development process for QA colleagues reporting into other functions.
  • Maintain appropriate QA staffing levels aligned with business needs.
  • Ensure product quality consistently meets specification requirements.
  • Coordinate and manage the daily product taste panel.
  • Ensure non-compliant product is only released with clearance from designated personnel.
  • Manage factory complaint investigations in line with established procedures.
  • Collate data on factory complaints and develop recommendations to improve performance.
  • Implement product control procedures such as recall processes.
  • Provide technical advice and customer information in line with internal procedures.
  • Lead the site HACCP team, schedule meetings, and ensure timely implementation of the HACCP plan.
  • Manage CCP audits where necessary.
  • Complete allocated internal audits in line with the audit plan.
  • Maintain BRC accreditation at grade A standard.
  • Facilitate product recalls and withdrawals, ensuring documentation is complete.
  • Plan and conduct challenge testing for product recall and traceability, including documentation.
  • Implement and review food safety and quality procedures to meet scheduling and regulatory needs.
  • Uphold high operational standards for food safety and quality, including hygiene, allergen control, and pest management.
  • Provide timely key performance reports and offer technical support to site teams and departments.
  • Operate the QA function within budget and raise purchase orders for approval by the Group Technical Manager.

What's required?

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in food manufacturing
  • Practical application of HACCP
  • Practical application of BRC Global Standard
  • Team management experience
  • Experience conducting routine/internal audits
  • Experience with database operation and implementation
  • Knowledge and application of key technologies related to products manufactured
  • Degree in a science or food-related subject
  • Level 4 Food Hygiene
  • Level 4 HACCP
