We’re hiring a Packaging Introduction Technologist to support the development and implementation of cutting-edge packaging solutions within a forward-thinking food manufacturing business. Based in South Yorkshire, this is a hybrid role (3 days on-site) offering hands-on involvement in sustainability, packaging design, factory trials, and artwork approval processes.

This opportunity is ideal for someone with 1–4 years’ experience in the food industry or a graduate with a placement year, looking to deepen their expertise in packaging development and project delivery within a collaborative, cross-functional environment.

You will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Identifying and leading projects to enhance sustainable packaging solutions
  • Presenting packaging samples, concepts, and sustainability initiatives to internal stakeholders and external customers
  • Collaborating cross-functionally with teams across operations, marketing, technical, and suppliers to deliver packaging introductions
  • Conducting factory trials, establishing process parameters, and validating packaging performance against design and food safety requirements
  • Managing new packaging introduction into production, ensuring systems (internal and customer) are maintained and updated
  • Supporting the artwork approval process, coordinating activities with external suppliers and agencies
  • Delivering process and profit improvement initiatives while ensuring compliance with food safety, quality, and legal standards
  • Keeping up to date with market trends, regulations, and restrictions affecting packaging across dairy and plant-based categories
  • Building strong working relationships with commercial and operational teams, supporting business strategy and values

What’s required?

  • BSc in Food Science, Packaging Design/Technology, Materials Science or equivalent
  • Experience in the food industry (1–4 years or placement year)
  • Knowledge of packaging development and artwork approval processes
  • Strong project management and organisational abilities, with flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities
  • Comfortable interpreting technical data and making process-led decisions
  • Numerate and confident in analysing process or performance data
  • A collaborative and driven mindset with a strong attention to detail
  • Tenacity to overcome challenges and see projects through to completion
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car
