Are you a Multi-Skilled Engineer looking to join a growing food manufacturing business investing heavily in new technology, equipment and its engineering capability?

This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established food manufacturer during a significant period of growth and investment. With the expansion of new-to-market food products attracting major global brands, the business is investing in new technology and equipment across its Cheshire operation, creating plenty of opportunity for the Engineering team to get involved in CAPEX, continuous improvement and new machinery projects.

Alongside maintaining and improving existing equipment, you’ll have the opportunity to broaden your engineering skillset through hands-on project exposure, bespoke qualifications and additional training. It’s a role for someone who wants to keep developing technically while playing an important part in the future growth of a manufacturing site. The core role covers planned and reactive maintenance, fault diagnosis, continuous improvement and involvement in capital projects.

‍

You will be responsible for, but not limited to:
  • Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across production machinery, equipment and site services.
  • Diagnosing faults and completing breakdown repairs to minimise downtime and maintain production performance.
  • Using root cause analysis and problem-solving techniques to identify and resolve recurring engineering issues.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across machinery, equipment and engineering processes.
  • Getting involved in CAPEX projects, new technology and equipment installations across the site.
  • Completing planned maintenance activities and responding effectively to maintenance requests.
  • Supporting improvements in equipment performance, reliability and OEE.
  • Maintaining engineering technical documentation and supporting the effective management of engineering stores.
  • Working closely with Production, Quality, Health & Safety and wider Engineering teams.
  • Supporting and coaching colleagues in shared maintenance activities where required.
  • Ensuring engineering work complies with GMP, statutory requirements, site procedures and customer standards.
  • Completing relevant training and upskilling programmes as the operation and technology continue to develop.
What’s required?
  • A recognised Engineering Apprenticeship alongside a BTEC ONC, Level 3 qualification or equivalent.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding capabilities.
  • Previous engineering experience within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, with food or FMCG experience advantageous.
  • Experience with planned maintenance, breakdowns and root cause analysis.
  • Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics and steam systems.
  • PLC knowledge, ideally including Siemens, Mitsubishi or Allen Bradley, would be advantageous.
  • Experience working with HMIs, robotics and inverters would be beneficial.
  • An understanding of continuous improvement techniques and equipment performance.
  • A proactive approach with the ability to work both independently and as part of a wider Engineering team.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships across Production, Quality, Health & Safety and Engineering.
What’s in it for you?

An opportunity to join a growing food manufacturing operation at a time of genuine investment in new technology, equipment and CAPEX projects. You’ll have the chance to develop your engineering capabilities across an evolving site, gain exposure to new equipment and processes, and benefit from bespoke qualifications, additional training and ongoing investment in your development.
