An excellent opportunity to take on the role of Lead Quality Manager within a well-established manufacturing environment. You will be responsible for leading a dedicated quality team and playing a key role in supporting a new site that offers significant opportunities for growth and career progression.

This position involves close collaboration with major UK retailers, ensuring quality standards consistently meet their exacting requirements. The role is ideal for a driven professional looking to lead a team, influence quality strategies, and contribute to the ongoing success of a dynamic and expanding operation.

You will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Set clear objectives and measurable KPIs for the Technical teams, aligning with overall business goals to continuously enhance site standards and GMP.
  • Ensure team development aligns with the talent needs identified by both the business and the wider Technical function.
  • Oversee effective training, coaching, and development of the Technical team to ensure competence and confidence in their roles.
  • Act as an engaged member of the Senior Management Team, contributing to the achievement of site objectives, budget targets, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure full compliance with all legislation related to the welfare of live animals throughout catching, collection, and slaughter processes.
  • Maintain and improve the Quality Management System to uphold food safety, legal compliance, and adherence to customer specifications and policies.
  • Support the promotion and embedding of a strong food safety culture across the site.
  • Provide Operations with technical monitoring and auditing to ensure customer requirements are fully understood and consistently met.
  • Review non-conformance trends to develop and implement long-term corrective action plans.
  • Regularly review and update specifications for all products, packaging, and ingredients to ensure accuracy and compliance with customer requirements.
  • Coordinate investigations into technical customer complaints, ensuring findings and corrective actions are completed and communicated internally and externally.
  • Implement procedures to comply with environmental legislation and ensure these are understood by the Senior Management Team.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external customers during site visits.
  • Manage external service providers, including hygiene, pest control, laundry, and laboratories, ensuring services meet required standards.

What's required?

  • Food-related HND, along with Advanced Food Safety Level 4 and Advanced HACCP Level 4 qualifications.
  • Certified in internal auditing, demonstrating strong knowledge of audit processes.
  • Experience working with BRCGS or ISO 9000 standards, ensuring compliance and quality assurance.
  • Proven leadership skills, with experience in motivating and developing teams to achieve their best.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, capable of engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Solid knowledge of, and experience working with, major retailers and their requirements.
