Are you a food technical professional looking for a varied role where you can work directly with suppliers across Europe and have real visibility across the supply chain?

This is an exciting opportunity to join an established food business in a supplier-focused technical role, supporting sourcing and commercial activities across a diverse European supply base. Based in Cheshire, you’ll combine site-based working with regular travel throughout Europe, particularly Poland and other key sourcing regions.

You’ll be responsible for the technical approval, compliance and ongoing performance of suppliers, developing strong relationships while ensuring products and manufacturing sites meet the required food safety, quality, legal and customer standards. It’s a varied position covering everything from supplier audits and product assessments to specifications, traceability and new product launches.

You will be responsible for, but not limited to:

• Managing the technical approval and ongoing compliance of suppliers and manufacturing sites across Europe.
• Conducting supplier audits, technical visits and product assessments against customer, legal and company requirements.
• Building strong working relationships with suppliers and acting as a key technical link between suppliers, customers and internal teams.
• Maintaining accurate specifications, supplier approvals, audit reports and other technical documentation.
• Supporting the onboarding and technical approval of new suppliers and manufacturing sites.
• Following up corrective actions arising from audits, assessments and customer visits, driving improvements where required.
• Supporting suppliers in understanding and meeting customer-specific and retailer technical standards.
• Assessing product quality and consistency against agreed specifications and identifying areas for improvement.
• Attending first production trials and new product launches to ensure technical and quality requirements are achieved.
• Conducting risk-based supplier assessments, traceability exercises and authenticity checks across the supply chain.
• Supporting investigations into product quality concerns, supplier non-conformances and claims.
• Working closely with Commercial and Procurement teams on supplier selection, product development and customer projects.
• Supporting customer audits, supplier visits and retailer approval programmes.
• Travelling regularly across Europe to conduct audits, technical reviews, product assessments and supplier relationship visits.

What’s required?

• Previous experience within a food technical, supplier assurance, quality or compliance role.
• A strong understanding of food safety, quality, legality and technical compliance within the food industry.
• Experience working with suppliers and manufacturing sites, ideally within an international supply chain.
• Knowledge of supplier approval, auditing, specifications and technical documentation.
• An understanding of BRCGS, customer standards and quality management systems.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to work directly with suppliers, customers and internal stakeholders.
• A proactive approach to identifying technical issues and driving corrective actions and continuous improvement.
• Strong organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple suppliers and technical priorities.
• Comfortable travelling regularly throughout Europe, including Poland and other key sourcing regions.
