We’re hiring a Food Technologist to join a dynamic, fast-paced team shaping the future of this growing ambient food category across the UK and Europe. You will be responsible for, but not limited to:
Product Development & Compliance
- Support the NPD process from concept through to launch, ensuring legal, safety, and quality compliance.
- Prepare and maintain product specifications, ensuring alignment with UK/EU regulations and retailer requirements.
- Approve product artwork and label declarations, ensuring all packaging is legally compliant.
- Handle day-to-day technical queries from internal stakeholders, customers, and suppliers—including NPD, export, and regulatory questions.
Quality Assurance & Testing
- Coordinate product sampling, shelf-life testing, sensory panels, and monthly surveillance testing.
- Support post-launch reviews, troubleshooting issues and providing technical input.
- Conduct supplier audits and risk assessments to verify food safety and quality standards.
- Manage quarterly supplier testing data and maintain readiness for customer audits.
- Keep retailer documentation and portals updated with key technical files such as HACCP plans, allergen risk assessments, and complaints procedures.
Retail & Regulatory Support
- Maintain the master packaging data spreadsheet and submit Packaging Waste Data (H1/H2) and RAM assessments.
- Prepare and update Mock Recall, Quality Panel, and Surveillance Testing schedules.
- Collaborate with the Product team and suppliers to finalise Quality Contracts and QAS documentation.
- Submit and maintain compliance through retailer portals, ensuring everything is audit-ready.
What’s required?
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a technical, quality, or NPD role within the food industry.
- Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of food legislation, HACCP, labelling, and allergen management.
- Exposure to working with co-manufacturers or external suppliers preferred.
- Familiarity with UK retailer specifications is highly desirable.
