You will be responsible for, but not limited to:
• Supporting the development and delivery of category plans that optimise cost, supplier terms, and availability while meeting commercial objectives.
• Leading negotiations within your product category, securing competitive terms and long-term agreements.
• Managing supplier relationships, assessing performance, and contributing to category strategies that drive value.
• Forecasting income, tracking schemes, and ensuring accuracy of data, risks, and commercial impacts.
• Delivering promotional plans that are competitive, commercially sound, and aligned with internal stakeholders.
• Supporting seasonal planning, identifying opportunities, securing volumes, and managing clearance strategies.
• Handling cost price negotiations, analysing cost drivers, timelines, and market influences.
• Working cross-functionally with internal teams to ensure alignment, strong communication, and successful execution of plans.
• Managing availability challenges within your category and resolving medium-complexity issues independently.
• Preparing reports, presentations, and analysis to support decision-making and stakeholder understanding.
• Participating in wider projects, contributing to continuous improvement, and supporting consistent ways of working.
• Supporting personal development, engaging with training, and progressing towards broader responsibilities.
What’s required?
• Strong analytical capability with proven experience interpreting and presenting data.
• 2–3 years of commercial, buying, or negotiation experience within a recognised brand or fast-paced environment.
• Experience managing multiple stakeholders and working collaboratively across teams.
• Ability to prioritise workload, manage deadlines, and adapt to changing business needs.
• Confident communicator able to influence, challenge, and deliver difficult messages constructively.
• Strong planning, organisation and project management skills.
• High level of proficiency in Excel and competent across Microsoft Office applications.
• Solid understanding of commercial drivers, supply dynamics, and market context.
• Resilient, adaptable, and able to thrive in a dynamic trading environment.
• Good standard of education including English and Maths.
• Full alignment with values such as excellent service, partnership working, ambitious objectives and resilience.
Desirable:
• Degree or equivalent in Business or related discipline.
• Experience in a fast-paced office or large commercial team.
