Are you a food graduate with a passion for bakery and looking for your next step?

We're hiring a Bakery Technologist to join a fast-paced and creative product development team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who loves getting hands-on in the kitchen and wants to be involved in developing exciting new bakery products from concept to shelf.

In this role, you’ll spend around 50% of your time in the kitchen creating bakery samples and 50% in the office, supporting recipe feasibility, data logging, shelf life testing, and more. It’s a perfect fit for a Bakery or Food Science graduate with a genuine passion for bakery and a desire to grow within a collaborative, technically strong team.

You will be responsible for, but not limited to:

Creation & Feasibility

  • Prepare recipes in the test kitchen for customer briefs, training sessions, and innovation meetings, using processes that mirror factory equipment
  • Maintain an organised and well-stocked test kitchen environment to ensure recipe development stays on track
  • Prepare samples for customer visits and internal sessions, raising any concerns about kitchen-to-factory scale-up
  • Work closely with developers to troubleshoot issues in recipe formulation or process transfer

Factory Support & Capability

  • Assist developers during factory trials, recording detailed notes on timings, processes, and observations
  • Carry out product measurements, AW testing, and data logging for factory trials
  • Create reports including heat maps and bell curves to recommend tolerances
  • Label SGS samples (micro, shelf life, nutritionals), upload to lab portal, and send out as required
  • Manage shelf life testing on trial samples, organising tastings and recording results using organoleptic sheets

Organisation & Benchmarks

  • Organise competitor benchmarking sessions: collect samples, complete evaluation forms, and run tastings
  • Send ingredients and samples to other sites using couriers
  • Ensure all tasting sessions and evaluations are accurately documented

GMP & Hygiene

  • Maintain high standards of health & safety, hygiene, and GMP in the kitchen
  • Ensure the kitchen complies with all technical and audit requirements

What’s required?

  • Previous sweet bakery and food manufacturing experience (placement or post-grad)
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to follow instructions and act on feedback
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan and prioritise to meet deadlines
  • A problem solver who works methodically through tasks and can troubleshoot effectively
  • A real team player with high attention to detail and a drive for quality
  • A genuine passion for food and creativity, especially within bakery

What’s in it for you?

A hands-on role combining kitchen creativity with technical development, ideal for someone early in their career looking to gain real-world experience in a fast-moving food manufacturing environment.

Do you think you fit the criteria?
